Cultural Competence in the Transition Process for Students with Disabilities focuses on the importance of acknowledging and addressing the cultural values and beliefs of students with disabilities and their families. It is crucial for transition personnel to incorporate basic knowledge about the youth’s ethnic, racial group and cultural background to better able to recognize cultural themes and ask relevant questions in a culturally sensitive manner.
