This webcast will share key insights from an upcoming research project at the Rehabilitation Research and Training Center, focusing on improving work and well-being for youth with disabilities who are leaving foster care. The team will highlight the challenges these young people are expected to face, the anticipated gaps in current systems, and the projected need for better collaboration between child welfare, special education, and vocational rehabilitation. They will present early findings on which support services are likely to lead to better employment outcomes and how extended foster care may affect youth with and without disabilities. The presentation will also cover their planned literature reviews and future steps, including local validation efforts and building partnerships with child welfare and rehabilitation agencies.
