Research of Parent Training of Children with Autism
VCU's RRTC is conducting a study to evaluate the impact of a 5-month parent training course. The name of the study is The Effect of Community Engagement for Children with Autism: A Parent Training on Community Inclusion for Children with Autism and Their Parents.
Eligible participants will be:
- 18 years old or older
- have a child between 5-11 years of age who has autism and who exhibits challenging behavior.
The parent training is designed for parents of children with autism. It is called Community Engagement for Children with Autism.
The training includes:
- 1 hour per month of training with an autism and behavior expert
- 2 hours per month of coaching and personal consultation with an autism and behavior expert
- 1 optional hour per month of a parent support group
- Copies of the workbook that will help parents develop behavior plans
- Access to all materials after the training is complete
