ACE-IT in College is VCU’s fully accredited inclusive postsecondary education program for students with intellectual disability (ID). It provides a pathway to higher education for students with ID who do not meet the traditional college entrance criteria. ACE-IT students earn a Certificate from VCU School of Education. During their two years in the program, students audit a variety of VCU courses, maintain paid employment on campus, and engage in the college community with the support of advisors, education and job coaches, and peer mentors. The focus of this certificate is to prepare ACE-IT graduates for competitive integrated employment in their chosen career fields. In fact, 90% of ACE-IT graduates are employed.
