VCU-RRTC – ACRE Approved Supported Employment Online Course

There is no cost to participate. Please read the following information.

The next sections of the VCU-RRTC Supported Employment Online Course are now open for registration. The Center is conducting a research study to demonstrate increased knowledge by individuals who complete the ACRE approved online course. Here are the steps.

1. A total of 250 people will be accepted to take the course at no cost. The course is for employment specialists, job coaches, job developers, and other professionals who provide employment supports to individuals with disabilities.
2. A person registers to participate.
3. When registering, the person will complete a pre-test taking approximately 20-30 minutes.
4. Once VCU-RRTC has 250 participants registered, these individuals will be randomly assigned to two groups.
5. We cannot assign registrants to a specific date, since this is a research study. This is like drawing names from a hat. There is no guarantee that a participant will be assigned to a specific start date.
6. One group will begin the course on March 14.The second group of participants will begin on June 20.
7. After the first group completes the course, all of the participants will take a posttest.
8. Then, the next group begins the course on June 20.
9. Everyone who completes the course requirements will earn the ACRE Basic Certificate in Employment Services.
10. An analysis of the participants’ pretest and posttests will be conducted to determine if the course results in knowledge gain for the participants’.
11. Participation in the course is voluntary and confidential. VCU-RRTC will not release any information regarding a person’s participation in the course to any individuals outside of this research study.

Course Credit

Earn 4 CEUs or 40 CRCs and the National Certificate in Employment Services issued by ACRE upon course completion. In order to complete the course successfully, participants must participate in an online discussion forum, complete assignments, and pass a quiz for each lesson. All assignments must be completed in order to earn the Basic Certificate.
