Over the course of 2024, ACE has continued to make great strides in its mission to coach and train educators to better serve students on the Autism spectrum in Virginia public schools. Some highlights from this past year include:
- Beginning the Classroom Coaching Initiative with coaching partnerships in approximately 80 classrooms.
- Providing live training to 342 participants across initiatives, including:
- 109 participants attended the Community of Leaders in Autism Summer Institute.
- Forty-one autism leaders from across the state attended the Autism Leadership Intensive to enhance their leadership skills, by learning and applying a problem-solving model and creating an Autism Action Plan to improve systemic approaches to instruction and support for students with Autism.
- The Evidence-Based Practices Academy provided in-person training to fifty-three participants across all eight of the VDOE regions on foundational strategies to support students with Autism throughout their school day.
- Regional communication workshops reached 153 participants with training on supporting communication and behavior through augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).
- The completion by 6,104 participants of online training on evidence-based practices to support students with ASD.
- Additionally, the ACE training team developed and revised numerous free training resources with the most up-to-date and meaningful information and strategies for Virginia Public School divisions, including printable factsheets, microlearning, on-demand learning presentations, courses, and more!
The ACE team is looking forward to the many ways we can support and partner with Virginia public schools in 2025!
